<p>Ofcourse,ifpossibleit's always best to buy hardware that uses freedom respecting firmware. However, I do not see it as being as important as software in most cases, especially since firmware is not always changeable anyways therefore restricting freedom 1 by definition. That said, it is a different issue that manufacturers are putting more and more of the user'scomputingontothehardwarecomponentitselfanditsfirmware,andalthoughthismayyieldmoreduetolessloadontheCPUitdoestakeawaypowerfromtheuserandthereforetheuser'sfreedom.Ifthefirmwaresimplydoestheminimalamountandthenleavesmostoftheworktothedriversthenthefirmwarebeingnon-freeisnotasproblematicsolongasthedriversarefreedomrespecting.However,ifthefirmwareisdoingagoodportionofthecomputingthenitbecomesratherproblematic.Thesedevicesshouldbeavoidedatallcostssincetheuserneverhascontroloverthem.</p>
